Certified Ressio Partner
Thanks for stopping by my table (or my session) at RessioCon.
I helped build the Ressio + QuickBooks Online integration so when the setup breaks down, I know exactly where to look and how to fix it.

Why Your Ressio Numbers and Your QuickBooks Don't Match
Bring the mismatch. Leave with it fixed.
If your Ressio budgets and your QuickBooks reports never quite agree, you're not alone — and it's rarely the software's fault. We'll walk through the most common reasons the numbers drift apart, and you'll leave with a clear next step for your own setup.
Already registered for a breakout session? Great, see you there.
Room still open? Ask at the registration desk, or visit the sign up page.

Most QuickBooks Online problems come from how it was set up, not the software itself.
When builders have a frustrating experience with QBO, it's almost always traceable to the same mistakes:
Copying the Desktop setup without redesigning it for QBO and Ressio
Cost codes and chart of accounts that don't reflect how you actually build
Connecting Ressio before the financial foundation is solid
These aren't QBO problems. They're setup problems. And they're exactly what the Builder Financial Systems Diagnostic is designed to catch before they compound.
Still on QuickBooks Desktop?
The hesitation is real and worth respecting. The migration itself is handled by Intuit's migration service. What I provide is the preparation and setup that protects you before and after the move.
1. Prepare your Desktop file. Guided resources walk you through what to reconcile and clean up before you migrate.
2. Intuit migrates your data. Their free built-in tool handles the transfer. No need to pay a third party.
3. Set up QBO for construction. Chart of accounts, cost codes, and settings configured correctly before you go live.

This guide breaks down what stays familiar in QBO (job costing, invoicing, reporting) and what's new (automated bank feeds, real-time dashboards, and integrations like Ressio) so you know exactly what to expect before you switch.
Moving from Desktop to Online is a big step this checklist covers everything to prep beforehand (reconciling accounts, cleaning up vendor lists, running key reports) and confirm afterward, so your data stays accurate through the switch.
Whether you're starting fresh or moving over from QuickBooks Desktop, this guide walks you through setup so QBO fits how custom homebuilders work placed invoicing, and reporting built around your projects, not a generic template.
Ressio and QuickBooks Online are better together, when the setup is right.
Ressio handles
Budgets, schedules, selections, client communication, and project details
QuickBooks Online handles
Company level reporting, financial reports and tax-ready books
I helped build this integration.
As Ressio's accounting advisor, I worked with their development team to build the QuickBooks Online sync. When the connection isn't working the way it should, I know why and how to fix it.
When you work with me, I make sure Ressio and QBO are talking to each other correctly. Cost codes are properly mapped, budgets are syncing, and reports are making sense.
Questions Builders Ask about Migrating
-
This comes up on almost every call I have with builders on Desktop. It was true years ago, and the noise never fully went away. Today, QBO handles job costing well when it's set up correctly for construction. The setup is the part most people skip.
-
It wasn't built exclusively for construction, but it handles construction well when configured correctly. The builders I work with get the reports, job costing, and financial visibility they need. The key is having the right structure from the start.
-
This is almost always a setup issue, not a software limitation. QBO has flexible custom reporting that most builders never fully explore. I've built reports for clients who were told QBO couldn't do it. It usually can.
-
Yes, when both systems are set up correctly from the start. I helped build the integration, so I know exactly where it breaks down and how to prevent it. Most issues come from cost codes not mapping correctly or settings being off on the QBO side.
-
When you migrate, your data comes over using Intuit's built-in tool pulling customers, vendors, transactions, chart of accounts, etc. The key is making sure your Desktop file is clean and reconciled before you migrate, so what comes over is accurate. If you'd rather start fresh in QBO instead of migrating, that's a different conversation. We'd bring in opening balances and active project data rather than your full history. Either way, you're not starting from zero.
